Baby #2 is on the way!!!

We are so excited to announce that we are adding to our family, and Gia is going to be a big sister! Baby #2 is due on March 17th, 2012, St. Patty's Day! It is kind of crazy to think we are going to have 2, I can barely believe I already have 1 baby! Gia and he or she will be 20 months apart, we ind out the gender on November 3rd, can't wait for that so I can start planning the new nursery :)
Here is Gia all excited in her new big sister shirt!

rough week...

Almost 2 weeks ago, Gia and I went to the park with Becky and Gianna. We were having a fun day playing on the swings and watching the ducks. Right before we left Gia decided to climb up to the top of one of the playground sets, the only way down without climbing back was the slide. So I put Gia on my lap and we went down. When we got to the end Gia SCREAMED. I had kinda banged my knee where the slide curved so I thought maybe her knee hit the side too. Except she would not stop crying and was realllllly freaking out. I knew something was wrong. I finally got her to calm down. I tried to put her down to walk and she wouldn't put any weight on her leg. I was worried. We got in the car and headed home. She fell asleep on the way and I was like, ok, she will be fine. She must have bruised her ankle or knee or something. The second she woke up she started crying again. She wouldn't put any weight on her leg and she was hysterical. She never cries like that so I just knew. I called the pedi and they said to bring her to the ER so she could get x-rays. Luckily, my mother in law came with me to the ER and they got Gia in so fast. We get the x-rays back and she fractured her tibia :( I could NOT believe it. They said we would have to bring her to a pediatric orthopedist to get her fitted for a cast. They gave her a soft one for the night.

It was one of the worst nights ever. Poor baby was in so much pain. After a few hours of crying she finally calmed down and slept. We went to the orthopedist the next day and got some good news. Instead of a cast we got a boot which is good so we could bathe her and she could swim if she wanted. Plus the fracture was clean and in a good spot so she will be fine and will heal and walk again. It was a really tough few days. She was extremely unhappy that she could not walk and was very frustrated. Soon though she figured out how to crawl and now she is even walking a few steps here and there with the boot. It has been hard to see her deal with it but I know she won't remember and it was way worse for me and John.

On Wednesday night my dad called me that my mom had had a ct scan and they had found bleeding in her brain and deided to operate, right away. She has been acting lethargic for a few weeks and her doctors were concerned and had her checked out. My mom is strong but the thought of brain surgery scared me so much. I basically sat here for 2 hours in a state of shock waiting for news. Luckily she came through the surgery really well. We went to see her the next day and she was opening her eyes and focusing on us. Less than a week later she was eating, talking, and doing so much better than she was before the surgery. She is now back at Hagedorn and doing well. Talking and participating and just a huge change from before the surgery. In some weird way, it may have been a blessing in disguise.

Needless to say it was a rough 48 hours. Health is so important, I am so thankful everyday for mine!
I love you Mom so much, stay strong! And Gia we are so proud of how tough you are, only 15 more days and you will be back to your crazy walking self :)
