3 week stats!

So Gia is now 21.5 inches and 7 lbs 15 oz, my little peanut is already growing so fast!
I have to upload my latest pics but everytime i sit down to do it, I get distracted. It's crazy how the day is so long but it goes so fast and I barely get anything really 'done'.  I am trying to enjouy this time with her as much as I can bc I know before I know it she will be a big girl and I will miss being able to hold her and carry her everywhere.
In the meantime, here are some pics we took the first week or so she was home...

1 week old here...

Gia Viviana Scicutella is HERE!

2 weeks ago today, our lives changed forever as we were blessed with our beautiful baby girl! I honestly can't believe she is finally here, I am still getting used to the fact that I am a mom!!! Here is how it all went down...

Thursday, July 8th, I woke up and noticed I was bleeding some which CAN be a sign of labor starting, I got excited but didn’t want to get my hopes up because it could still take days for something to happen. Soon after, contractions started. Nothing crazy in the beginning but they were definitely there. I went for a walk and took a shower then decided to call the doctor just to be safe. They wanted me to come in just to have the doc check me. So I went to get a manicure in case it was the real deal and I didn’t want to have to look at my un-manicured hands in the hospital for days, lol.

So around 1 pm the doctor checks me, I am not dilated but he says we should go to the hospital to have them monitor me and see what happens.  So I go home and pack and John comes home, we get to the hospital around 3.  They put me in a room and hook me up to monitors  and the contractions are coming pretty often, every few minutes.  Then the nurse comes in and the doctor wants me to have an IV because he thinks I am just dehydrated and that’s why I am contracting. I WAS SO MAD! So basically instead of walking  around and keeping the contractions going I was strapped to the bed and given an IV and eventually my contractions slowed down. We were sent home, I was so upset. I knew something was going on and the hospital isn’t exactly close to our house, so it was more annoying than anything.

We stopped at the mall on the way home to get some yummy cheesecake factory food and my contractions continued! The whole ride home and then while I was eating. This was the night Lebron made his ‘decision’ so of course we were watching that special. As soon as it was over, I started pacing around the house and doing squats for about a half hour. My contractions were getting a lot stronger and I was starting to get worried. We called the doc and he said basically if I couldn’t handle the pain then to go back to the hospital. 5 minutes after we hung up the phone, I felt something weird snap in my belly and then WHOOSH my water broke! Holy crap I did not know that there would be that much water! At that point my contractions went from ouch painful to holy #!@* I can’t move painful. John dragged me around the house to get my clothes on and got me into the car. That was the longest and most painful car ride ever! We got to the hospital and had to go through the emergency room since it was late. At midnight we were in the room and everything was starting.  The only bad thing was that my doctor would not be there to deliver her but the doctor covering and the resident were awesome and so were all the nurses, so luckily that all worked out!

I was only 2 cm dilated when we got to the hospital which basically meant no drugs. I contracted on my own for about an hour and a half before they gave me some pain meds through my IV. I could still feel the contractions but it was a lot easier to handle. At around 3 am I was 5 cm dilated and it was time for the epidural, YAY!!! I swear that is the best invention ever. Getting it was a weird experience because it’s a process and kind of scary but at that point, there was NO way I could handle the pain for hours and hours more.  After the epidural I felt great and we moved into a larger room. Everything went well ecept for a small scare where the baby’s heart rate was dropping a LOT when I was contracting, they moved me around and after a few minutes everything was ok.  Thank God because after all that I would have been very upset to have a c-section after laboring for that long.   At 5 am the doctor checked me and I was like 10 cm, they said to rest and soon it would be time to push. John and I both got some rest and at 6 am it was time to push! This part was surprisingly the easiest for me, and I kept telling the doctors this, I was expecting it to hurt but it didn’t at all! John was amazing and I wouldn’t have been able to do it all without him. After 20 minutes of pushing, at 6:22 am Gia was born! It was all so surreal, I couldn’t believe it was really happening. She was the most beautiful and perfect thing I have ever seen.  6 pounds and 6 oz, and 19 inches long - she is a little peanut!

I feel so blessed to have a healthy, happy and beautiful baby. We are so lucky!

Here is our daughter, Gia.

tick tock, tick tock....

38 weeks and 3 days pregnant, only 11 more days to go and wow i really hope it is sooner than that! Last week we had some awesome weather and it was great to walk and hang out outside and read, then starting yesterday it got hot as hell! Today it was basically 100 degrees and for the next few days looks like it will be high 90's! ACK! I knew being 9 months preggers in july would be no picnic but of course there is some ridiculous heat wave! Oh well, I am still waking up early and walking everyday trying to get some progress going. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and hopefully we will see some. If not I guess I will be chilling in the AC for the next couple of days!
Here are my 38 week pics...
We got our nursery bedding last week, finally! And even though it took way longer than I wanted it to, it was worth it because its beautiful and really completes the room. Here are the pics, I had to block out a few of the things because they have the babys name and as you all know it's a secret till she gets here :)
View into the room from the hallway:
The crib and bedding...
Window valances, also made by the woman who did the bedding...
